Beautiful, wonderful game. Not only is the world building phenomenal, but the story is immersive and the character design is creative and just visually appealing. I love everything about this game.

Although, I will say, I encountered a glitch a few times where I would get stuck if I clicked on a certain area. It would just loop the same phrase over and over again.

Other than that, I absolutely adored playing this game!

I liked this game! The art style was very nice to look at, and the animation in the introduction blew me away. I only wish some of the game mechanics themselves were more developed, though the issues are understandable given this is only a demo. Here are some of the problems I experienced:

-The background seems to waver a bit at times. It is almost like a glitching TV, with stripes that move down the screen horizontally. It wasn't too annoying, but I can see how this has the potential to cause nausea in players because of the frequent motion.

-The question marks when interacting with something had a bad tendency to phase out in the later half of the game. It took me walking past an object 4-5 times for it to finally register and appear so I could interact with things. I personally was able to find everything and finish chapter 1, but it is easy to see players missing a question mark because it disappears and being unable to complete the game.

I also noticed a few capitalization errors that could easily be fixed with a quick lookover of the story.

Overall, a game with beautiful art and an intriguing story that I am excited to see expanded upon. Well done, and best of luck in your future game endeavors! :)

Thank you so much for letting us know! We'll take a look at those and aim to have them fixed by the next update! It makes us so happy to hear, thank you again! <33

The game itself is very pleasant. Beautiful scenery and lovley characters I will definitely play another chapters as well but I have some things to add to be fair.
First of all me and my friend expirienced a bug that wasn't mentioned in comments. It was when we gone to the staircase to mother study, and find themselves stuck in that room not able to go back as texst with elinor appeared. it was something like "I need to go check the door" it was when we were about to first meet Flavein. We were forced to play from beginning as we didin't save our progress at this point (I know it was dumb). Another thing is just a recommendation. Maybe in future you can add something like a "to do list" in one of corners, when you play in small sesions it may confuse. (you know what to do next if you don't remember) After all it was a game that will be in our minds for a long time, and we will wait for another chapters!

Hi! Thank you so much for letting me know, I'll take a look at those! And for sure, the to-do list will be included in the next update :) Thank you so much for letting us know, it means a lot! <3

my friend told me to play this and it's really good! i love the art, the music and the story is very interesting. one problem i do have is that whenever i press f or space, sometimes it wouldn't let me unless i exit for a while before coming back D: other than that, great work! keep it up :]

Thank you so much! That makes us so happy to hear! I'll work on fixing that c:

There sure are a bunch of areas where you can softlock yourself into progressing the game due to map issues. I got stuck in an infinite loop of dialogue two different times. 1) telling me to put books away 2) checking the door downstairs even when I'm at the lowest area of the map. I had to slog through several unskippable prologue dialogue just so I can get back. I had to make it a habit to constantly save but my god, it was stressful. This game is far from complete.

I'll be working on fixing those bugs and will have them in our next update, thank you!

the visuals are seriously so gorgeous, and the character designs too! really am looking forward to the next chapter, really well done. so so so excited!!! <3

We appreciate it so much, thank you!

this game is so wonderful!! it's absolutely beautiful, the characters are so lovable, the story is intriguing, and there's a nonbinary character? i love it so much!! i'm so excited for chapter 2 :D

if you ever plan to update the UI, i have a few suggestions. it's not too troublesome to press the F key to read all the text, but pressing Enter is much more typical. it would be nice to have an auto button, for text. and of course, it'd be convenient if there were separate volume settings for each different type of audio. and the last thing—i'm not sure why this is—the History panel kept acting weird for me. it wouldn't automatically show the most recent dialogue, and  on top of that, it wouldn't scroll very well. it was far too slow. i'm not sure what's up with that

even then, those are pretty minor issues. again, i adore this game and (as an artist) i absolutely love the art. it is absolutely gorgeous. i look forward to playing chapter 2 and learning more about Elior and Flavien :)

Thank you so much for the review! I'll definitely look into having those in our next update! :)

Gorgeous game! I really enjoyed the music, visuals, story, really just everything about it. Super excited for the next chapter!

That makes us so happy to hear, thank you so much!

Absolutely fascinating characters, story, and world - I’m hooked! :D

It would be cool if players had the option to adjust the sound for the text separately from the music and maybe had some keybind options (I’m so used to pressing enter to advance text!) but those are teeny tiny complaints about a great experience.

Oh! We'll work on having that in our next update. Thank you so much for playing! :)

Omg!! This game is fantastic. I love the art style and characters so much!! Also the music is amazing. Can't wait for part 2!!!

Thank you so much! <3

I really loved chapter 1! The mystery and the dynamic of the two. The art is exceptional and such a treat to look at while playing. Super excited for the coming chapters! <3

Thank you so much! We're so happy to hear it! <33

The atmosphere and art made getting lost such a blessing.  I loved running around as Flavien and watching him sparkle and light up candles. It made me unreasonably happy.

Thank you for releasing such a beautiful game. So much work was put into this first chapter and every Twitter updates makes me more excited <3

Thank you so so much! That means so much to us! We'll keep working hard to bring ch2 soon! c: <3

So, enjoyed the first chapter a lot!
Just in case someone is a linux user, like me, this game starts without any issue on Wine, so everyone will be able to enjoy it.

Hello! Thank you so much, so happy to hear that! And thank you for letting us know too that it works on Wine! c:

Hello hello! I downloaded the file for Mac but I can't seem to open it :(
Any help?

Hello! The info from this forum might help! This might also help as well:

1. Open Terminal
2. cd to the *.app folder
3. xattr -rc *.app
4. Double-click, it opens

Let me know if you continue to have issues!

dont help

You can try the snippet that worked for me which was to do a chmod.

To fix this, you have to use Terminal to navigate your way into the file and unlock the permission settings that were changed due what we believe is from the compression.

I honestly can't remember where I found this code and when I remember I'll be sure to credit them, but with terminal you need to navigate to the download folder (or wherever you put your app) and add the following:

cd <PATH_TO_YOUR_APP>/<APP_NAME>.app/Contents/MacOS/

and add the following:

chmod -R 777 [applicationName].app

Hey there! Thanks for giving the link to the forum. It's the chmod that helped me run it. It was a permission issue, I suppose.

Snippet that worked for me:

I honestly can't remember where I found this code and when I remember I'll be sure to credit them, but with terminal you need to navigate to the download folder (or wherever you put your app) and add the following:

Did you have an issue where the app wasn't recognised? I keep getting the message ' zsh: no such file or directory: TheLastStar_V1.0 '. If you have had that issue did you find a way to get around it?

(1 edit)

Hmmmm no, I didn't have that problem.

How about deleting the app then redownload it?

When you redownload it, try to unpack the app then copy it to the Applications folder.

After that open a terminal where you will chdir to the Applications folder then do the chmod.

At least that's what worked on me.

If it helps, I'm using Mac OS Monterey.
